Simply use the ( Windoze ;-( ) tool freely available from FTDI web site.
They change the tool once again, nevertheless you can safely reset
your EEPROM content from it.

I've been using a virtual machine w/ Windows 7 for my experiments with
the EEPROM, until I finally understood what was going wrong with FT
[24]232 EEPROM and libftdi ;-)
