Could you elaborate on how you know it's not having any results? I.e., are
you looking at the parallel output lines on a scope, or are you trusting the
firmware on the chip connected to the FT245R to report accurately whether or
not it's receiving data? Has writing to it ever worked? Are you enabling
RD#?

If it compiles and links without warning (-Wall), then I would rule this
out.
