how to use ACBUS and BCBUS

the ft2232H chip has 16 pins on each channel broken up into ADBUS and ACBUS on interface A and BDBUS and BCBUS on interfaceB.  ftdi_read_pins only give you a char back , and there doesn't seem to be a way to select the 2nd group of pins as a separate interface.  how would one read these other groups of pins on ACBUS  and  BCBUS.
