hmm, honestly I haven't thought about this question yet :p
I *guess* the openwrt-toolchain uses automake by default and it worked
so I didn't care further.. automake, cmake etc. are not my best friends
(read: honstly, I have no idea what I'm doing there), just happy if it
works finally ;) 
It was really pretty easy to pu libftdi in as it has no other depends
(compared to others), nothing special and as I myself really prefer
things to be easy I thought it's worth to post..
