I think some possible time jump is irrelevant.
The time is only needed to print out the transfer rates each second. If
there is some fluctuation it results in a slight changes rate, but that
doesn't have implications on the data transmitted. The rate printed out next
second will be okay.
And if there are any reasons the machine jumps time often, there will
probably be also problems with interrupt latency and the streaming read will
have many dropouts, making the transfer rate irrelevant too.
